1) Naoussa – Paros
Naoussa is a large, and very scenic anchorage on the northern tip of Paros. It offers good shelter from all wind directions and the small town is quite charming, with a very good selection of restaurants and bars and excellent shopping. Our absolute favourite.
2) Russian Bay – Poros
Russian Bay is a large sheltered bay offering many secure and scenic anchorages. It is beautiful and within easy reach of the town of Poros. Although somewhat exposed to winds from the South, they are rare and the sea doesn’t get up to any great extent. Good shelter from all other directions. We anchored here on six different occasions this summer and thoroughly enjoyed them all.
3) Ormos Elies – Poros
A beautiful and peaceful anchorage, to the west of the northern entrance to Poros, and much quieter than Russian Bay. Good shelter except from the South and fabulous swimming.
4) Anti Paros
An anchorage off a lovely sandy beach, and within easy tender distance of the town. We loved Anti Paros town and the anchorage, although not particularly well sheltered, is gorgeous in settled weather. We had two fabulous days and nights here.
5) Porto Helli
In the creek leading up to Porto Helli there are three great anchorages, all of which we much enjoyed. Shelter is excellent and they are all very scenic and peaceful.
The bowl at Porto Helli itself is very well protected from all winds and we rode out a couple of strong blasts there in comfort.
Just to the South of the entrance to the creek there is a small island offering stunning anchorages on both sides in good weather.
6) Rhinia – SW of Mykonos
A beautiful, remote and completely natural anchorage with good beaches and great swimming. Very good shelter except from the south.
7) Christopigi – Sifnos
This is a spectacular anchorage with a church built out on its own promontory. Only comfortable in settled weather and subject to swell from the east but well worth a night or two in good conditions.
8) Vathi- Sifnos
A very well sheltered and beautiful bay with good beaches and restaurants with their feet in the water. Deservedly popular.
9) Serifos
Set high up a hill, this is the most beautiful town of all those we have visited and a great anchorage in the bay if you can’t get a berth in the small harbour. Only open to the East.
10) Dhoxos
A small island close to Hydra offering three stunning anchorages. Shelter always excellent in one or the other. Swimming fabulous. Our guests loved it.
11) Milos
A very big bay off the town of Adamos offering peace and excellent shelter in a number of bays. Absolutely stunning scenery.
